Xoloitzcuintle

i just got this email from a customer and had to share :)

"Hello
I and my husband met you at the Dardanup Bull and Barrel Festival. I bought
some Olive Oil after you stated it would work on my dogs skin, ( I have
hairless dogs and their skin is pimply and a bit dry).

I must admit I was sceptical and thought there is no way oil could work, I
mean oil gives pimples!!
I just want to thank you as this is the best advice ever for my dogs skin, I
have had emails from around the world as to how there skin is so good, the oil certainly has made a huge difference.

I shall send some pictures as well, please feel free to use them and my
thanks as a testimonial. "

just goes to show its the simple things that work..........
i suggested that she get some good quality extra virgin olive oil.....preferably local west australian to ensure freshness......it didnt have to be ours....she bought some anyway ;-D

we will be there

East Fremantle Festival on George Street 2009

The Town of East Fremantle will once again host the East Fremantle Festival on George Street on Sunday 6 December from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
This year's Festival will have a carnival atmosphere with live music, delicious food, market stalls, street entertainment and much more.
The East Fremantle Festival will cater for the young and the young at heart. There will be something for everyone from kids, to mums and dads, through to grandmas and grandpas.
To entertain the kids there will be free carnival rides, baby farm animals, face painting, roving entertainers and more. Teens will have their open space this year to hang out in - the ‘Chill Out Tent for Teens".
The ‘grown ups' can browse the artisan market, with over 75 stalls featuring work created by talented artists, craft practitioners, designers and gourmet producers.
This year's artisan market will be full of unique, expertly crafted desirables made by talented local artists. There will be handmade jewellery, clothing, hand bags and purses, textiles, glassware, cards, paintings, soaps and candles, natural skincare, photography, preserves, olive oils and much more.
Many businesses in George Street will be open and local community groups will also be showcasing their services and/or products at the festival.
There will be two stages at the festival and expressions of interest are still being sought from local performers who are interested in performing at the festival.
The East Fremantle Festival will bring a new vibrancy to George Street, with an abundance of colour, loads of noise and a buzz of people.

rosebuds and almonds

ive been dying to use the rosebuds i bought recently and have come up with a few ideas....this face scrub being one....i have been trying it out for a week or so and am very happy with the results...it leaves velvety skin, smells like roses, i have added rose geranium essential oil too and is suitable for everyday use for all skin types, there is good old fashioned oatmeal that is well known for its soothing and cleansing properties so its a great soap replacement,

available in my bigcartel and etsy shops soon when i work out how to put labels on without hiding the gorgeous layers that i couldnt resist trying and how much it will be because its not a quick way to fill bottles.............:) perhaps there will be a giveaway when i get organised

and now for something completely different

its cloudy today for the first time in weeks.....still no rain though....which is just as well because i am repainting the lines in the supermarket carpark ! they havent been done for about seven years.......we did them the first time, in my other life as a painter, houses not pictures :) below is a lime wash (that i made from scratch) in progress on a friends antique shop.....i specialised in making things look old and crappy :)

and antiques.... this is a before shot of late 19th C gilt console just had all the yucky paint stripped off and now its ready to have all its missing bits rebuilt with plaster and gesso then regilded.

....anyway...lines are not really visible anymore. i will be making use of my barrier cream for my hands, rose hip cream for my face and lip balm for my lips ! to protect me from the elements :) maybe i will have a photo at the end of the day ?..................................yep

GASP !!! got blue paint on my redback steelcaps from holding down the cardboard stencil...these are the best most comfortable steelcap work boots i have ever owned...made in sydney ! only my second pair since 1998 and they get worn all winter in the kitchen, collecting/chopping firewood, making retaining walls for vegie garden from wandoo railway sleepers (40kg), etc etc etc, they have saved my toes a million times

Morsø

the
morsø is back in action.....it was 1 degree C at 7 am and i have splinters from the axe handle.
olive oil goes cloudy (fatty acids) below 7 degrees so when i am in the back section of the 'shed' where we store it all, its easy to tell when i should light the fire this time of year.......it could spell the end for my still productive tomatoes :(

experiments

i am mucking around with some new ingredients and packaging
